I, Randy Scott, had been in the production end (a vessel owner) of the Seafood business from 1978 till 1989. It was at that point in 1989, I decided to finish my Undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University, Bryan/College Station. But I just could not get away from this industry. After graduating I finally got back into the Shrimp and Seafood business, not as a boat owner, but as "The Nationwide USA Retailer". In those years as a boat owner, I sold my catch to many different fish houses on the Texas Gulf Coast. I became friends with the smaller and larger folks in the business. Little did I know at that time, friendliness and hard work in those earlier years would prove to be most advantageous in 1996 when I "came back to the cloth". My decision to start a Nationwide Mail Order Seafood shop came easily to me. Living in Houston, Texas and directly on the Gulf of Mexico, I one day decided to "throw" a Shrimp Boil for some of my old College Buddies. I went to grocery stores, and YIKES (I need not say more)! I tried buying from the local Fish Markets, but they were overpriced, and had inconsistent quantities/selections. I then tried the phone book. No luck there. Finally I tried the internet. I ordered from some of the companies I found. The quality was bad, the packaging was sub par, the ordering process was a nightmare, and in ever case the person taking my order was unorganized and knew nothing about the products they were offering! It was then I knew what I had to do. I needed to help those with the same problem I experienced in those two painful weeks. I needed to find the Best Seafood available and deliver it Nationwide USA. Consequently, after about 3 days of phone calls to my old Seafood contacts, Gulf Coast Specialties (Shrimp.com™) was born in early February of 1996. It is my pleasure to offer you an easy and convenient way of purchasing the Best Seafood money can buy. We are very grateful to those early "Purchasing Pioneers" that allowed us to get this company off the ground through their faith in ordering from us. Since August of 1996, we have shipped Shrimp.com™ Seafood to every state in the continental USA. Residential sales and Commercial gift pack sales are reaching highs almost every month. With virtually no money spent on advertising, we want to thank our continuing customers and our customers to be. Like I said 3 + years ago, "Get the customer the products they want, and they will tell someone else about it". This philosophy, albeit a long-term one, has proven true. We know from experience that our customers are our Marketing Department.
